Light Forum is a curated series of talks, tours, and participatory workshops that takes place on Fridays and weekends throughout the festival. Featuring professionals from art, design, and sustainable development, these informative and sensorial sessions add dimensions to the festival's artworks. Programmes include artist talks with local and international artists, lighting tours in the city, and community light art activities.

LIGHT TOUR 

Come join us as lighting designers from Lighting Planners Associates, Yusuke Hattori (Assoc IALD), Sunyoung Hwang (Assoc IALD), Sherri Goh (Assoc IALD) bring you up close and personal on the intricate lighting design of the exterior and interior spaces of one of the national icons - the National Gallery Singapore.

Learn about the journey of becoming a lighting designer with Yah Li, CLD, IALD curator of Light Forum and Principal of Light Collab, Chayot Kiranantawat, CLD, Assoc IALD, Senior Lighting designer from Glint Lighting Design and Emanuela Stucchi, Assoc IALD, Design manager of Inhabit and Adjunct Lecturer for the Specialist Lighting Design course at Temasek Polytechnic.

Together, they will take us through the transformational world of lighting design through recent works such as the Singapore Pavilion at World Expo 2020 (Dubai) and the Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay (Singapore) by Light Collab, Chongqing Changshou Sales Gallery (China) and Qingyuan Pop-Up Sales Gallery (China) by Glint Lighting Design  and recent Light to Night Festival light art installation “Fragment of a shoreline” with Akai and Space Anatomy and J hotel in Shanghai by Inhabit.

This session showcases local artists in their pursuit of balancing art, lighting design and sustainability. Whether it is a critique on our relationship with consumption, materialism, or the environment at large, the interactive art and lighting installations are intended to generate thought, introspection and dialogue. Join us as Architect Tan Szue Hann speaks with the artists on these themes, as we find out what sustainability goals can be propagated through art, architecture and lighting design.

LIGHTING GUERRILLA 1

Held over two days of the festival, Lighting Guerrilla is two small workshops that focus on playing with light and spontaneity. The workshop facilitators will collaborate with students from schools to bring the installations alive. The workshop culminates with temporary lighting installations at two locations - at the Jubilee Bridge and under Bayfront Bridge.

Singaporean installation-performance artist, Wei Lieh, works together with students from Pathlight school to transform Jubilee Bridge in Singapore. Come visit the light art installation on the evenings of 25 and 26 June 2022.
